How yoga does way more for your well being

Today I want to shed some light on how yoga does way more for your well being than just exercise. It all starts with your nervous system. Your nervous system runs through your entire body. It’s not just in your brain. Your other organs — especially the heart and gut — are vibrant nerve centers. They have their own "brains," so to speak. These centers correspond with your chakras. When they’re out of balance with each other (misaligned) it affects everything. This is why calm, controlled use of your whole body — in addition to practicing mindfulness — benefits you in so many ways! Truly finding that balance requires an undistracted self-practice. And when you learn to use that self-practice correctly…

  • You will find calmness comes easier to you, even if other people are losing their cool (like when Uncle Frank stirs up arguments during Christmas dinner).

  • You will fall asleep easier and wake more rested (this will make every day more enjoyable).

  • You will feel motivated to practice more easily, causing the physical benefits (like fitness, flexibility and strength) to compound over time.

  • You will feel "antifragile" — your joints and muscles won’t be sore or tight like they used to be.

  • Your mind will feel clearer and less cluttered, making you a better communicator, listener and problem solver.


You will also get familiar with your own space. Your own temple. That will give you a chance to really explore the mind-body connection, and let go of the swirling hurricane of distraction and "responsibility." All things that are second priority to your self care. All things that YOU decide to care about every day, so YOU can decide when it’s okay to turn them off. Let me repeat that, because I think it’s important: You can decide when it’s okay to turn them off.


So make time for yourself, turn them off, and explore that connection between your mind and body.
